We arrived at Cebu Island, the last leg of my trip before heading back home.
Cebu is a very poor and remote island with massive levels of humidity and heat. t is easy to be distracted by the 3rd world ugliness and poverty, but my designers and I chose to look for inspiration in all of the wonderful and creative textures on the island and the beautiful ocean. We visited several furniture factories and found very creative people doing interesting things. They overcome the heat, and surpass all expectations by being inventive in furniture-making and by weaving beautiful designs into useful creations. It was such a great learning experience and we totally enjoyed being there.
In addition to spending time doing furniture and design research, we also spent some time playing and island-hopping to take in the pretty ocean and soak up some sun. Just a great time!
